The CHCSS00130 Individual Support – Disability Skill Set is perfect for people who have studied higher education in community services who are seeking to step into an active role in Individual Support for the disability sector.
What you will learn
Participants in this program are typically seeking to pursue career in the following types of roles:
- Disability Support Worker
Students will learn how to work and support people with a disability in a range of environments to enhance empowerment, strengths, participation in the community, and social activities.

Entry Requirements and Enrolment Information
Pre-Requisites
This skill set is for individuals who hold a
qualification at Certificate III level or higher
in Community Services, Health or a related field, work in various care and support roles and who wish to develop skills in providing person-centred support to people with disability.
Pre-Entry Requirements
Students are recommended to be working or be open to placement. Students are typically over the age of 22 years old seeking to gain experience as Individual Support – Disability.
LLND Test
Students must have suitable language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills to read and comprehend learning materials and perform tasks.

- Oral Communication - Level 4
- Numeracy - Level 3
- Digital Literacy - Level 2
Online Learning
Students will be required to complete their theory modules and upload their practical workplace evidence through their individual student portal or physically attend our approved practical placement locations.
Technology
Students are required to have a device with internet connection with a minimum of 8GB of RAM, microphone, video and speakers.
RPL and CT
Participants are welcome to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) prior to enrolment. Refer to the student handbook for further information on the application process.
Certification
Students who successfully achieve competency will receive an NRT, Statement of Attainment in:
- CHCSS00130 Individual Support - Disability
- CHCCCS038 Facilitate the empowerment of people receiving support
- CHCDIS011 Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach
- CHCDIS012 Support community participation and social inclusion
- CHCDIS020 Work effectively in disability support
